Jules: December 2011

I love Beck. Too bad he is hitched to another. We could have been impishly cute together, sharing each other's clothes and singing silly gibberish. I often find myself repeating “I’m sad and unhappy” from his song, “Beercan.” I say it to my dog, Fou when he is pouting. Which is often. He has a chemical imbalance. I say it to random people who are moping about town, slogging through their seasonal affect disorder. But mostly, I say it because it is fun. It is on permanent rotation in my head.

A few weeks ago, during my acupuncture appointment my doctor casually mentioned that he hates to rain on my parade, but I need to quit running. I immediately thought I am sad and unhappy. I imagined gigantic rain clouds lowly hanging over my head, drenching me with such sorrowful news. He was right, he was raining on my parade. But oddly, I was not sad or unhappy. You see, I have developed a slight crush on Dr. Voodoo. He calls me Jules and kiddo. It is delightfully endearing. I find myself profusely sweating in his office even on the coldest of days. He mentioned that I have a tight butt. Mon Dieu, what joyous words! And against his advice I am still running because injuries mean hour long appointments, idle chit chat and best of all, deep tissue massages! It is true, every cloud has a silver lining. I love crushes, such simple fun. Sad and unhappy, I am not. In pain? Yes, but hey, love hurts.
